Chapter 7 — Reassuring the Student
Claire immediately dropped to one knee to meet the boy at eye level.
She softened her expression, willing the moisture in her eyes to recede.
“No, Leo,” Claire said gently.
“You didn’t do anything wrong at all.”
She smoothed out a corner of the colored paper.
“It’s just a very detailed chart.”
Leo nodded slowly, relaxing his grip on the backpack.
“Dad said I have to include everyone who loves me,” Leo explained.
“Because they all help me with my math.”
