Chapter 4 — The Phone Call on Tuesday
Marcus leaned against the kitchen counter.
He knew he could not hide the truth any longer.
“She called me on Tuesday morning,” Marcus admitted.
Sarah crossed her arms.
“Tuesday morning while I was sitting across the room?”
“While you were in the garage taking inventory,” Marcus corrected.
“She said she was flying back into town.
She said her lease out in Chicago fell through completely.”
Sarah shook her head.
“And your first instinct was to hide it from your wife?”
“My instinct was to figure out where she was going to stay first,” Marcus snapped back.
“I didn’t want you getting stressed out before we had a plan.”
