Chapter 8 — Checking the Flight Schedule
Sarah pulled out her smartphone.
She tapped open her browser to check flight arrivals from Chicago.
Flight 412 landed at 3:15 PM.
That was in less than four hours.
Sarah looked up from her phone screen at Marcus.
“She’s landing today?”
Marcus winced.
“The letter said Friday.
Today is Friday, Sarah.”
Sarah dropped her hand to her side.
“You thought the letter said Friday, but you didn’t even check the date closely enough to realize today *is* Friday?”
Marcus looked down at the floor.
“I got the mail this morning while I was rushing out for work.
I put it on the table and forgot about it.”
“And left the key right on top,” Sarah said bitterly.
